Candiace Dillard Bassett, who graced The Real Housewives of Potomac with her presence since its third season, is moving on from the reality show, ET has learned.
Dillard Bassett announced her departure to People and expressed her gratitude for the experience.
"As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey," she told the outlet, hinting that her exit might only be temporary. "This is not a farewell, but a 'see you later.'"
Acknowledging the unwavering support of her fans, Dillard Bassett expressed excitement for the adventures that lie ahead, promising to share them with her devoted followers. Her departure follows a tumultuous season of RHOP, marked by conflicts with OG cast members Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon.
Dillard Bassett did not mince words when expressing her sentiments about Bryant when she spoke with ET in November.
Dillard Bassett, along with fellow Housewife, Dr. Wendy Osefo, shared their thoughts with ET at BravoCon in Las Vegas, shedding light on their complicated relationships within the show.
Dillard Bassett began by addressing her bond with Dixon, stating, "Well, I think you have to kind of separate those things right because Robyn and I have a history, we have a friendship, that was my sister, and I think she's just sort of in a trance right now so I'm just waiting at the corner, I'm at the bus stop, I'm waiting on her to wake up." Osefo chimed in, "Snap out!"
However, the conversation quickly shifted towards Dillard Bassett's feelings about Bryant. She didn't hold back her criticism, declaring, "I just, I go back to, you know, it's very hard to have even a simple relationship with a robot and someone who has perpetually decided that she is not going to share her life but instead lie on others' lives. Go ahead."
At the time, Dillard Bassett threw a little social media smoke Bryant's way for discussing cheating rumors about Dillard Bassett's husband, Chris Bassett, on her podcast with Dixon, Reasonably Shady.
While Dillard Bassett had no plans to leave the show when she talked to ET in December, she did admit to having an "exit strategy" for reality TV, as she ramps up her acting and music careers.
"I have always had a plan," she shared, but she didn't reveal exactly what it is, or when she planed to act on it.
"Everything is a gift," she offered. "All of this, like the music, the acting, Potomac -- it's all a bonus for me. None of it is something that I feel entitled to, and I would rather live that way than the other way."
Dillard Bassett wrapped up her Deep Space era -- the album she dropped in 2021, followed by a deluxe edition last year -- and is prepping new music for 2024. She said she's on her "Beyoncé-ish," planning to tell her truth through song, and even collaborating with producers and songwriters behind hits for Queen Bey, as well as SZA and H.E.R.
"The music is definitely elevated and reflective of my real life -- my actual life," she said. "I'm kind of like theming this project as chaotic. It's chaos."
