The 44-year-old actress opened up about the moment in the latest episode of her podcast.
Kate Hudson has been open about her complicated relationship with her siblings over the years, but it seems she's making attempts to repair things.
In Monday's episode of her and brother Oliver Hudson's podcast, Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, the 44-year-old actress opened up to guests Joel and Benji Madden about wanting to make things right with her siblings. "I had this moment last year where I was like, 'I don't know why I don't talk to my other siblings.' I don't care what the history is with our parents, but -- and especially me who has no sisters and I do. I have two sisters that I don't speak to for no other reason than our family is separated."
Kate -- who is the daughter of Goldie Hawn and actor Bill Hudson -- grew up in a blended family with her brother, Oliver, stepbrother Boston Russell, and half-brother Wyatt Russell, who is Hawn and stepfather Kurt Russell's son. Her father, Bill, also has three other children, Lalania, Zach, and Emily Hudson.
Speaking to the Madden brothers, Kate revealed that she recently reunited with one of her sisters on the phone. "My sister and I and my brother have all just started communicating again," Hudson revealed. "And honestly, I got on the phone with my sister and we just started bawling our eyes out. It was so great."
Of their reconciliation, Kate said, "[My sister] even said it. We start now. We start now."
As for Kate's own children, she's mom to three kids: son Ryder Robinson, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Robinson, son Bingham Bellamy, whom she welcomed with ex Matt Bellamy, and daughter Rani Fujikawa from her current relationship with fiancé Danny Fujikawa. Back in 2021, Kate joked about her blended family on Sunday Today with Willie Geist.
"I've got multiple dads. I've got kids all over the place," she said. "The only expectations I have that are really high in my life is with my kids and with family stuff. Other than that, I just let it go."
She continued: "I have a great family. I have a beautiful mother. I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life, but it doesn't take away from the fact that we didn't know our dad. I think people sometimes just need to hear that they're not alone."
Kate has previously opened up about her estrangement from her dad, Bill, but in her latest podcast episode, Oliver mentioned he was working on mending their relationship.
